My background spans from residential and commercial construction to computer aided drafting and design, I enjoy building relationships with clients and vendors and wearing multiple hats at Emily Handke Design. On a personal level I'm married and have been blessed with 4 beautiful daughters. My passion for residential construction and design has led my family to move many times as we renovate homes and then sell them. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies in our theater, attending gymnastics meets, visiting my oldest daughter at Purdue, and hosting friends in our home. In the office you can typically find me working away 3D modeling our homes in Revit and Lumion. I love that no two homes are the same!
Architecture was something that I became interested in pretty early on. As I got older, I began to develop a deeper understanding of the effect architectural design can have on a person. That understanding is what drove me to pursue a career in residential design. I wanted to design and create something as a way to connect with people and have a positive effect on their daily lives. Designing custom homes for clients was the perfect niche. I grew up in South Bend, IN and studied Architecture at Ball State University. I have lived in the Indianapolis area and worked in the residential design industry for the past 8 years. When not working on our latest home designs, you can find me outdoors with my wife, three daughters, and our two dogs. I enjoy traveling as much as possible and experiencing new places, trying new foods and restaurants, spending time at the ballpark, and doing pretty much anything active.

I started school at St. Pius X, moved on to Cathedral High School, and ultimately ended up at Washington University in St. Louis for Architecture. If you know me from growing up you probably know me by my maiden name, Emily Treece. I always knew I wanted to do something to take my Architecture degree and utilize it in a more personal way to connect with people. As it turns out, designing a client's dream home is exactly what I was looking for. I think travel is the best way to gain exposure to new design ideas and help me think outside of the box. I've been to all 50 states and traveled to 19 countries thus far! I've used inspiration from my travels to design custom doors from Paris to luxury hotels in the Caribbean. In my free time you will find me on bike rides, trying out new restaurants, wine tasting, and spending time husband and two young kids. My dessert of choice is pretty much anything with cookie dough, my wedding cake was even a cookie dough cake!
